Cities (Live/work): Austin, TX (originally from the San Francisco Bay Area)
Certifications/Qualifications: Bombay Jam®, I have been dancing since I was three years old, beginning with Tap, Jazz, and Ballet, followed by Bollywood at Naach. At age six, I began my training in Bharatanatyam under the guidance of Smt. Indumathy Ganesh, completing my Bharatanatyam Arangetram (solo debut dance performance) in March 2014. In 2009, I joined the Principle Emerging Performers in the Mona Khan Company, and became a dance instructor.
Currently, I am a student at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. I continue my passion for dance and teaching through Texas Nach Baliye, a Bollywood fusion dance team on campus that competes both locally and across the country.
Teaching Experience: Teaching is a passion of mine, and I was able to fulfill that through the Mona Khan Company. I taught Bollywood dance for 4 years to students of all ages. I was also an assistant teacher for my Bharatanatyam guru, Indumathy Ganesh, for numerous years.
Fitness Philosophy: More sweat now, less jiggle later – you’re only one workout away from a good mood!
About: Through dancing in the Mona Khan Company, I was always around Bombay Jam®. It became a popular and addictive fitness class that had an amazing culture attached to it. Janani Chalaka’s passion and hard work to build Bombay Jam® had inspired me to get more involved in the program. I decided to spread Bombay Jam® to Austin, Texas! I love teaching, and I am passionate about staying fit through fun ways, like dance! Bombay Jam® combines these aspects, and was a perfect way for me to continue teaching as I started my college journey.
Outside the studio, you can find me baking, practicing photography, painting, reading, studying, or hiking!
